14 Quotes Series: “Confidence”

Rex Ryan, NY Jets Head Coach (known for his confidence)

Confidence defined: full trust; belief in the powers, trustworthiness, or reliability of a person or thing: We have every confidence in their ability to succeed.

Self-confidence defined: belief in oneself and one’s powers or abilities; self-confidence; self-reliance; assurance: His lack of confidence defeated him.

Note from Coach O: I happen to think that self-confidence is one of the important keys to reaching your goals, as we continue on our journey to success. I think reading about leadership and ways to motivate people, and inspirational quotes all have their place — BUT — if you don’t believe in yourself and your team; success will be elusive; at best!

I think confidence is something you have to build up every day through motivation and achievement. Our confidence can be temporarily affected by circumstances, but we have to work intentionally and DAILY to build it up! Then each time you reach a goal (achievement) or successfully overcome one of life’s “speed bumps” (adversity), it builds our confidence exponentially. If we continue this progression, there is nothing that can hold us back!!!

I offer you “14 Quotes” (for motivation) that I hope helps build your confidence and keeps you focused on YOUR path.

Please feel free to comment on the “14 Quotes series” & make suggestions on the next topic I can “quote-ify”…. 🙂

14 Quotes: Perseverance

Perseverance defined: steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.

—Synonyms

  1. doggedness, steadfastness. Perseverance,  persistence,  tenacity,  pertinacity  imply resolute and unyielding holding on in following a course of action.  Note from Coach O: Perseverance then simply stated; is NEVER GIVING UP! It is the character trait that makes ordinary man & women, with extraordinary perseverance, accomplish great things!

Example: It is what we should have as basketball coaches: the determination to NEVER give up on a player…it will help them believe in themselves and accomplish great things. But quite frankly, perseverance should permeate our entire lives!! We should never give up on anything

So I ask YOU, have you felt like giving up lately? We have all felt that way sometimes (I know I have)…well DON”T! If what you desire is important enough to you, you will find a way to do it. So, until you find a way – persevere….DON’T YOU EVER GIVE UP!

It is my hope & prayer that these “14 Quotes” help you persevere and keep striving for your goals! ~ Coach O

New Series: “14 Quotes”: Adversity

14 Quotes: Adversity

Note from Coach O: We all deal with adversity in our lives. It makes us frustrated because we would really like things to always go well, don’t we? However, like my most recent favorite quote says, “If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere” (Frank A. Clark)

In my life, I have discovered that if I learn from adversity FROM adversity, instead of complaining ABOUT it; I always learn some valuable lessons and it actually makes me stronger! Here’s what I mean:

When I overcome a situation like; an unexpected roadblock in a plan (I call them “speed bumps”), it gives me a feeling of confidence. It motivates me to KEEP GOING!

Inspirational quotes are also a great source of motivation for me & I so each week I will chose a topic and share “14 quotes” with you for the week on that topic. That’s two quotes a day, to inspire you! If you have a topic that you would like me to cover, please email me at coach@coachotis.org!

Let’s grow TOGETHER, shall we?
